The thing is, this is my husband with his girlfriend. And it makes me so happy my face hurts with smiling. Martin and I were talking earlier today about how it's sad that some people can't see our family for what it is: We are people who care about each other, working together to bring a baby into the world who will be wanted, loved, and awesome. We are each bringing different strengths into this, all our wishes are combining to make us all individually happy, and delighted in the shared effort.
This is a wonderful thing.
Sometimes it feels just surreal that something that is not how I thought I would grow up and start a family is how it is happening -- and I just typoed that "happyening" at first. I am not making this up.
And sometimes it seems 100% real, grounded, and exactly how family-building should be. This is because it is. It's one of the many wonderful ways families should be made.
