Miche: :D
Miche: so do you know it's a girl, or is this just representative?
me: that's representative - we'll find out next week :)
me: Maybe it's a boy who likes cosplay.
Les: your baby has muscular thighs
me: Yes :) Yes, it does.
Les: how did you come up with that image?
Les: cuz I am pretty sure that fetuses don't wear clothes.
me: It's a serious kicker :D
Les: ahhhhhhhhh!
me: next monday is the ultrasound where, if it's cooperative, we get to use a gendered pronoun - though of course, we will use whatever pronoun is appropriate at various stages of the child's life ;)
Les: *nod*
Les: I recognize that something like "our child currently has a penis, but is too young to decide if that is congruent with zir gender identity" is a long phrase.
me: Right :) I'm okay with "he or she" as well as "it's a baby." I have a lot of neutral or boyish clothing, I have a little bit of girly clothing. I am unlikely to dress the child in profound mismatch of perceived gender, but will not fuss if it decides to do so later. I have experience with kids who choose that. (Not kids who identify as a very different gender, but kids who choose to dress that way a lot.)
me: Because my niece gave me a gorgeous dress, I would prefer if the child likes velvet and taffeta, regardless ;)
Les: *grin*
