Owen finally got around to his grand entrance

A couple of people have asked why I haven't updated this blog since the Big Change, and I'm sorry, but I'm just so tired.

It's amazing how tired I am, considering there are three of us and I didn't do the hardest work.

The sweetest baby on the planet was born yesterday at 5:35 in the afternoon.

He is calm and sleepy, but when he's awake he's bright-eyed and curious. He eats like a pro and poops like a pro, and we love him like crazy.

Audrey, who had no experience at all with babies, suddenly Became A Mom, and is intuitive and natural with him. I just adore watching them together. Well, we all love watching Owen, I also love watching Owen-and-Casey and Owen-and-Audrey, and Owen-and-Audrey-and-Casey.

There's so much more I want to include, like who, at the hospital, we explained our family structure to and why; and how and why I was careful not to put my foot down about expected roles for me and Audrey with regard to the baby early on; and the value of community in this endeavor, or ... well, a lot of things. But I'm so tired and having trouble organizing coherent thoughts. That said, if you've got questions, ask away, I'm happy to answer anything, though there might be some hedging where the privacy boundaries for individuals in our family are getting bumped against. (Remember, you can use OpenID if you don't have a dreamwidth account.)

Completely OT, but do you actually own Kroko? Or is that the picture from the Parapluesch website? Because I might just squee myself to death if you own him.

That is the picture from the website, but I do in fact own him; my Wonderful Wife got him for me as a birthday present this year. I love him whole big bunches; he is very soft and snuggly and comforting.

Well, I'm not there but I'm guessing there's bugging and then there's "bugging".

I routinely tease my new-parent friends by complaining that they're not posting a sufficient number of photos and details to meet my need for the internet to be full of Woodgie ... but I don't do this to people who don't know me well enough to realise that I AM teasing/letting them know I'm sharing their squee, not ACTUALLY telling them to carve out the time to write a heavily illustrated novel.

The little guy looks like he is blowing kisses :) Is his hair strawberry blonde? It looks blond in some of the pics I've seen and more red in others.

So far he's closest to Audrey's blond, but might end up being blond-but-reddish-in-the-sun like Casey was.

All my brain is registering is "SQUEEE!!!" and overall delight for everyone involved. Of course my curiosity for details loves hearing birth stories, but I wholly anticipate hearing that later.

I'm not sure sharing the birth story is Audrey's way, but I'll tell her folks are curious, and she can do that if she wants to. It was pretty much straightforward and lovely - no complications for her, and an absurdly healthy baby.
