Your story of having been mistaken as a lesbian couple reminds me - one night both my husbands were in Walmart doing a grocery run together, and discussing meals for the week. They noticed a woman watching them with a "aww how sweet" expression on her face, and realized she was taking them for a gay couple. They were amused, and saw no reason to disillusion her.
