Oh, there's a lot going on, and it'll only get more complex as he grows. The fatigue thing does get better in relatively short order, once he develops a sleep routine.
He's actually an awesome baby, starting to stare at us a LOT and get a little more interactive, grab our fingers, etc. We're still waiting on the social smile.
Social smiling is awesome, the first time you see it will knock your socks off. :-)
One of my strongest memories of bonding with RAB was when she was around two weeks old, and starting to make eye contact. She was lying in her co-sleeper, had just woken up, and was happily chomping away on her pacifier while just staring at me. I was lying next to her, and every time she bobbled the binky, I'd pop it back into her mouth, and she'd resume sucking. It turned into a back and forth routine of her spitting out the pacifier, and then looking right at me until I returned it. It probably didn't go on for more than five or six minutes, but I think it was probably some of the most direct communication she and I had at that point.
I think my next post is going to be about figuring about balance with three parents, but we haven't figured it out, it's just happened. But when I get another minute, not to write at all, but to write coherently, I'll write about that.
I can't wait to read that. :-)
(Yeah, I'm on DW as well as LJ, I just don't usually post here...)
